A periodic synthesis of the evidence on AI capabilities and risks, produced by a large international group of researchers and intended to give policymakers a shared factual baseline in the way climate assessments do. It is the closest thing available to an agreed statement of what is and is not known.
Technical view
Commissioned following the international summit process and chaired by Yoshua Bengio with a panel of expert contributors nominated by participating states. It surveys general-purpose AI capabilities, risks including malicious use, malfunction and systemic effects, and technical mitigation approaches, distinguishing established findings from contested ones. Its value for practitioners is as a citable, non-partisan reference; check the current edition, as it is updated.
